The committee said revisions should explicitly remove language that could be read as tying logging to imminent development and asked that the revised text be read slowly and clearly at Town Meeting. Members also asked staff to clarify municipal-building references in the report, noting the library draws the most taxpayer traffic.
Discussion about town-owned Skladeny land resurfaced; committee members described the parcel as largely inhospitable to subdivision because of ledge and rock and agreed the town should evaluate logging independently of any long-term development plans. The committee recorded a direction to seek expertise on responsible logging: Clay Lennartz was assigned to contact Alan Oxman and secure input before March.
The group also noted the need to address legal and zoning questions related to logging before taking further steps. The minutes state the committee approved the previous meeting’s minutes as amended during this session.
