Russ Huntley, a member of the Planning Board, demonstrated how to use Temple’s AxisGIS tax-map tools, walking members through search, layers (zoning districts, aquifers, soils, contours), base-map options and measurement and drawing tools. He told members some map options may take minutes to load depending on internet speed and that FEMA floodplain layers will appear once official maps are published.
On administrative assignments, Huntley agreed to remain the point person for editing regulation documents, and the board designated Cathy Joly to manage edits to the tax-map updates spreadsheet. Huntley recommended members explore the interactive features (zoom, search, layers) and use the 3-house symbol to generate abutter lists.
The board also noted that selecting the 2021/2022 statewide aerials and hillshade base maps can reveal features such as stonewalls and trails; members were encouraged to practice using the tools before relying on them for formal decisions.
