Architectural board asks Gardner Ridge to resubmit after concerns about senior building design and roof safety

Board members praised scale but repeatedly criticized the senior building's appearance and roof design. David Dominick and Stephanie DeLuca called the senior building "very plain"; Cliff Browne said it initially "looks like a warehouse" and raised concerns about roof slopes over garage areas that, based on prior nearby projects, had produced large icicles and safety hazards. Berg said options included adding a stone baseboard or gutter/ice-melt measures; the board directed the applicant to submit revised architectural drawings addressing materials, massing and roof runoff/ice mitigation.
Next steps: applicant to resubmit revised architectural drawings for ARB review; site-plan conditional approvals remain subject to ARB sign-off.
