Residents press Appling County on waste pickup and litter contract renewal

Peggy Smith, who holds the county litter-pickup contract, told commissioners she had completed two litter cycles though the contract allowed until the end of October and presented photos showing the clean-up work and the conditions prior to it. "We still have time to go back over any roads if the need is there," she said, and asked that her contract be renewed for the next fiscal year; the minutes record that the board said it would discuss the request.
The minutes do not record a detailed response from the board to Mr. McKinney about the Ryland contract or confirm any decision on Ms. Smith’s renewal request; both items were left for further board discussion.
