Appling County sets 2022 millage rate at 25.811 mills

The Appling County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 13 voted unanimously to set the county’s 2022 millage rate at 25.811 mills.
The board approved three levies by separate motions: a county maintenance levy of 12.504 mills (total taxes to be levied $14,598,013), a county-wide school maintenance levy of 12.837 mills (total taxes to be levied $15,280,937), and a 0.47 mill levy for Fire and Rescue Service (total taxes to be levied $548,710). Taken together, those levies produce a total millage rate of 25.811 mills for the fiscal year.
The motions were made on the record at a called meeting attended by Vice Chairman Doug Harris and Commissioners Theodore Wilkerson, Charlie Leggett and Daryl Edwards. County Clerk Robyn Evans certified the resolutions and recorded the levies in the meeting documents.
The resolutions were attached to the minutes as formal documentation of the tax levies and carry the statutory weight recorded in the public record.
