Dunn County commissioners approve contractor payments, permits and county purchases

Dunn County commissioners on June 3 voted unanimously to approve a series of payments, permits and county purchases tied to road projects, public-safety equipment and community support.
The board approved pay estimate #11 for the 7th St./113th Ave./10th St. project, authorizing payment of $637,568.74 to Baranko Brothers after Northern Plains Engineering presented the estimate. Commissioner Heiser moved the payment and Commissioner Pelton seconded; a roll-call vote recorded all 'aye.' The commission also approved pay estimate #4 for the 103rd Ave. SW project, releasing $208,478.95 to Schwartz Construction on a unanimous roll call.
Commissioner Kleemann moved and Commissioner Heiser seconded approval of eleven utility permits from Devon Energy — two pipeline permits and nine crossings — which the board approved as presented. Communication Director LoAnn Roshau asked the board to sponsor the NDPIO conference at the Silver level for $1,500; the board approved the sponsorship.
Auditor Sally Whittingham requested purchase of T-shirts for election workers for the General Election (estimated between $400 and $500). The board approved that request. IT Coordinator Mike Miller requested replacing two parking-lot cameras to restore full coverage at a project cost of $8,552.20; the commission approved the project and installation by Forte'. Two special-event permits were also approved.
On a community-support item, the commission voted to donate ten loads of gravel or a gravel/scoria mix to the Killdeer Rodeo Grounds and offered county assistance spreading the material if needed. Resident Mike Brost asked the board for permission to bill the county for cemetery reburials and to carry out cemetery repairs; the commission indicated support for Mr. Brost performing the repairs.
The vouchers and warrants for county funds were approved as presented; the meeting minutes list the detailed payments across general, road, parks and other funds.
The meeting recessed into executive session later and reconvened before adjourning at 11:12 a.m.
