Carlin approves $5,093 match for AFG hose replacement for volunteer fire department

The Carlin City Council approved a matching contribution of $5,093.34 to an Assistance to Firefighters Grant for the Carlin Volunteer Fire Department on Feb. 25.
Fire Department representative Linda Bingaman said the grant would pay to replace engine hoses and allow the department to swap in fresh, clean hoses while laundering used hoses. She said the department had originally budgeted $6,215 for the match but vendor pricing adjustments reduced the match to $5,093.34, which the city has already budgeted for the current fiscal year. Bingaman said existing hoses (from 2001–2002) were beginning to fail during testing.
Council approved the match unanimously; Councilperson Joel Nalley made the motion and Councilperson Lyndsie Whigham seconded.
The department plans to procure the hoses through Source Oil Purchasing Group, which handles cooperative purchasing and the bid process.
