At its meeting the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission voted to accept a deed for an abandoned portion of Orlando Avenue that the City Council discontinued for travel.
Staff explained that when the city discontinued travel on the short segment of Orlando Avenue, the abutting parcels and the city engineering department prepared a plan showing the piece that would be recorded. The parcel, a wedge‑shaped triangle near Linfield Street and Daytona Road, was described as largely undeveloped and the city reserved rights to maintain utilities on the land.
A commissioner moved to accept the deed and the chair called a roll call. Each named commissioner—Grace, Metul, O'Shea, Walt and Salona—voted yes and the motion passed. Staff said the parcel will be added to the commission's property holdings; engineering will record the plan and the commission will retain any existing rights it has on the site.
The vote was procedural; there was no discussion recorded that altered conditions or added contingencies. The commission will follow up with the engineering department about recording details and any utility maintenance coordination with City Hall.
