The Town Board on Oct. 25, 2023 approved several pay increases for town positions as part of preliminary 2024 budget discussions.
Joe Kern, committee member, moved to raise the maintenance position to $21.00 an hour and plow drivers to $23.00 an hour; Dean Hughes, committee member, seconded the motion. The minutes record the vote tally on that motion as ayes from Joe Kern, Liz Kern and Dean Hughes, with Dave Raue recorded as abstaining. The record does not list individual votes for other present members.
Liz Kern, committee member, moved and Dave Raue, committee member, seconded a separate motion to raise the clerk salary to $25,000 and the treasurer salary to $14,500. The minutes state that motion "carried unanimously." Liz Kern later moved, with Dean Hughes seconding, to raise the Land Use Administrator salary to $10,500; that motion is also recorded as carried unanimously.
The votes were taken during a broader board discussion of the 2024 budget. Other agenda items were handled without final action: consideration of a special event permit was tabled to November because the town attorney was not present, and a discussion about bookkeeping software was tabled after the current vendor said it would address reported issues within two weeks. The board also discussed an unpermitted remodeling on Madison Street but recorded no formal enforcement motion in the minutes.
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. and adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The minutes were submitted by Aimee Mallon, Clerk.
