Council moves BUILD grant application for Highway 67 phase 3 to Feb. 17 vote; MoDOT to cosponsor

Assistant City Manager Lori Phelps told the council the city will pursue a BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) grant for phase 3 of the Highway 67 project, covering roughly 2.7 miles on Highway 67 South at County Road 352. Phelps said she spoke with Bill Robison of Smith and Company and that MoDOT is supportive, will help draft the application and will provide matching funds.
Phelps described the project as an estimated $45,000,000 effort and said the application is due Feb. 24; the council agreed to place the application on the Feb. 17 voting session for final review and approval. "They're actually gonna help him draft it, and we'll be cosponsoring it. And they will also be providing matching funds, so there won't be any funds required from the city," Phelps said.
A council member moved to move the grant-submission item to the Feb. 17 voting session and the motion carried. The council asked that a completed application be provided to members before that meeting so they could review the full grant text and budget detail.
