Chilton County Commission rescinds $168,593 rock purchase for CCEC property and approves grants, hires and maintenance actions

- Road department engineer Heath Sexton requested a resolution to apply for a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to improve the Dry Valley area along Alabama Highway 184, an area described as having a high concentration of low- and moderate-income residents; the request was presented for consideration.
- The commission approved a resolution allowing the road department to apply seed and mulch at CCEC locations as requested by Commissioner Billingsley.
- The commission approved relocating the IDA/Bridal office to Courthouse Room 1111.
- Commissioners authorized advertising to hire a facilities and grounds maintenance technician and approved a motion for the road department to provide brush cutting at the animal shelter vacant lot to be paid from the animal shelter maintenance budget.
- A retirement longevity bonus estimated at $22,530 was requested by Commissioner Headley and approved.
- The commission approved a proposal from Active Air to move and secure air-conditioning units from the old courthouse, and approved Thompson Tractor invoices by motion; one abstention by Commissioner Childress was noted on a related item.
