Council weighs holding E. 7th South project while exploring Porter Road improvements

Town staff Brian Richards said the original plan was to put 7th S on hold but a new approach might allow the town to do both the 7th S work and Porter Road improvements by dividing work across three years.
Brian Richards said the town could explore purchasing land from APS at fair market value to enable a road alignment. Councilmember Cory Johnson said he would speak to APS again but expected APS to resist a road crossing their farm; Councilmember Greg Brimhall said he liked the idea of buying the parcel outright. Council discussed rerouting options such as a connection from the Willis Farm property out to 1st E, though staff noted that property owners may not agree to such an alignment.
No formal decision or motion was made at the work session; councilmembers asked staff to return with refined plans and cost estimates.
