Dunn County Airport Authority elects officers, approves $295,500 equipment payment and taxiway plans

Chairman Mike Schollmeyer presided as the Dunn County Airport Authority met March 2 and moved quickly through routine business, electing officers and approving project-related payments and plans.
The board unanimously elected Logan Lynch as treasurer, Gregg Synnes as vice president and Mike Schollmeyer as president following nominations and motions to cease nominations and cast unanimous ballots.
Logan Lynch presented the financial report, which the board approved unanimously. Board members then confirmed that equipment ordered from Gooseneck Implement — a tractor, blade and snow blower — was received in February and carried an invoice of $295,500.00. The board voted on a roll call to pay the full invoice; all seven members present voted aye. The minutes state the airport expects the state to reimburse 50% of that invoice from a grant awarded in 2025.
The board also addressed engineering billing and project planning. The airport received a Bolton & Menk invoice for taxiway design at 75% completion totaling $39,840.00; the board voted on a roll call to pay that invoice, and all members voted aye. Bolton & Menk then presented the Partial Parallel Taxiway design, updated cost estimates, a proposed bidding timetable, county cost-share estimates and details of a state grant application. The board voted to approve the Partial Parallel Taxiway plans unanimously.
On land acquisition for a runway extension, board members reported the landowner has not yet returned a signed purchase agreement, leaving that purchase pending. The board also discussed a proposed communications tower; the airport has not received confirmation of a new location from L.C.C Telecom Services. Finally, the board addressed environmental and community considerations for the taxiway project: 54 pine trees will need removal, with a portion to be donated to the Dunn County Park Board and remaining trees offered to individuals who inquire with board members.
The board scheduled its next meeting for Monday, April 6 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned following a unanimous motion to adjourn.
