Councilmember Joseph read the resolution and moved to appoint Sharon Kiss, Barry Stahl, Jacqueline Norris, Elena Goldstein and Samir Cuadra to two‑year terms beginning April 7, 2026. The council expressed gratitude to outgoing Green Team chair Sarah Lipsey for longtime service; the resolution commends Lipsey for leading Sustainable Maryland certification efforts and other sustainability programs.
The new appointees introduced themselves briefly. One appointee said their focus would be downtown plantings and improving vitality through better public landscaping. "Plants make a difference in the way people are healthy and in the way they feel about their community," an appointee said after joining the dais.
Council moved, seconded and approved the appointments by unanimous voice vote. The mayor invited the new members to introduce themselves for the camera and encouraged residents to contact the Green Team on projects and programs such as the native pollinator effort and composting pickup.
Council described the Green Team as instrumental to the city’s Sustainable Maryland status and said it will support the committee in upcoming certification work and programming.
