Donna Elliott Sprouse, Director of Community Development, told the Planning Commission that two new businesses will soon be operating on US 360 in existing buildings. Sprouse said she and County Administrator/County Attorney Vivan Seay are working on draft ordinances and hope to bring drafts to the commission for consideration.
Sprouse invited commissioners to join Dominion Energy for a tour of a solar facility in Charlottesville on Sept. 16. She asked commissioners who wish to participate to notify staff by Sept. 5; the group will meet at 7:30 a.m. at Rappahannock Community College's Glenns campus and "the expectation is that everyone will return by 3 p.m.," she said.
Kelly Evko, Economic Development Director, reminded the commission that the Board of Supervisors meeting on Sept. 8, 2025 at 7 p.m. will include a presentation by Chris Lloyd of the law firm McGuireWoods. Evko described Lloyd as experienced in projects involving rural localities and urged commissioners to attend if interested.
These staff announcements were made during the meeting's staff-comments portion and were presented as information and invitations rather than formal actions.
