TECCA staff seek board input on draft AI guidelines; internships survey shows student preference for in-person or hybrid placements

Assistant Superintendent Heidi Nelson-Buffa presented a draft set of AI Guidelines and an Artificial Intelligence Policy under development at TECCA during the May 6 board meeting. Nelson-Buffa said an 11–12 member committee of administrators and teachers produced the draft and that a staff survey had been distributed; she asked board members to complete the survey within the next month.
Nelson-Buffa also provided an update on career pathways and internships. She said 145 students responded to an internship survey in which roughly 20% of respondents preferred fully remote placements; the remainder favored hybrid or in-person internships, and medical/healthcare was the most requested field. Staff expect to place 10–15 summer interns beginning in mid-July and are compiling a partner list that includes MassHire offices and private employers.
