Mount Rainier council unanimously approves participation in county PAMC planning program

The Mount Rainier Mayor and Council unanimously approved Resolution O1-2026 on Feb. 3, authorizing the city to participate in Prince George's County's Planning Assistance for Municipalities and Communities (PAMC) strategic action plan project.
Councilmember Valerie Woodall moved the resolution; Mayor Selena Benitez seconded. The resolution, presented at its second reading, authorizes the city manager or designee to execute documents and directs the city to actively collaborate with county representatives, consultants and other stakeholders to develop actionable strategies addressing economic development, public safety, environmental sustainability, infrastructure and citizen engagement. Mayor Benitez asked council members to make themselves available to sign the adopted resolution so staff can forward it to county planning.
The vote was recorded as 5-0 in favor. Council directed the city manager to proceed with the next administrative steps necessary to participate in the PAMC strategic action plan.
