The Williston Board of City Commissioners on May 26 approved a zone-change request and a short plat tied to future commercial development.
Staff Planner Lisa Weidner said the property at Lot 5, Block 1 of the Roseland Subdivision had functioned as an industrial use since annexation and that the owner requested rezoning from (A) Agriculture to (C-2) General Commercial to make the use conforming and compatible with the 42nd Street corridor and the city’s comprehensive plan. President Klug opened the public hearing, called for comments three times, heard none and closed the hearing. Commissioner Bervig moved and Commissioner Gjovig seconded approval of the rezoning; the motion carried 5-0.
The board also approved a short plat to create the Amerco-U-Haul Cecil subdivision from three unplatted parcels at 5101 2nd Avenue West. Weidner said the resulting parcel will be 1.88 acres, is in the M-1 Light Industrial zoning district, and is served by existing city water and sanitary sewer mains. The City Engineer will require a 20-foot public-utility easement along the northern boundary to reroute stormwater to the NDDOT right-of-way and drainage swale. Commissioner Bekkedahl asked whether vehicle access would be to the frontage road; staff confirmed access would be to the frontage road. The short plat motion (moved by Bekkedahl, second Siemieniewski) passed 5-0.
Both actions were recorded as unanimous votes.
