Williston commission approves equipment contracts, a vehicle sale and an energy‑center subdivision

The Williston City Commission on April 28 approved several procurement and development items including awards for equipment, a surplus-vehicle sale and a final subdivision plat.
Public Works Director Kenny Bergstrom presented two bid openings. For the forestry department’s bucket truck, Bergstrom recommended the lone bid from Custom Truck One Source of Saint Paul, Minn., for $183,129; the commission approved the award by motion, 5-0. For a 2025-or-newer landfill cover machine Bergstrom said two competitive bids were received and recommended the low bid from Swanson Equipment of Minot for $97,800; that award also passed, 5-0.
Corey Johnson, fire chief, presented sealed bids for a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado the fire department had advertised for resale. The high bid of $10,501.01 came from department employee Robert Benth; the commission approved the sale with the buyer responsible for removal of emergency equipment, 5-0.
On land-use matters, City Planner Kent Jarcik presented a final plat to create Lot 1R, Energy Center Subdivision (a rearrangement of multiple lots in the Williston Square PUD) to accommodate future rights-of-way, a proposed Williston Ice Hockey facility and a future private indoor youth sports and recreation facility. The commission approved the energy-center subdivision plat, 5-0.
Chief Johnson also presented a Memorandum of Understanding with North Dakota Game and Fish for a prescribed-burn training opportunity on property that includes McKenzie County-owned land. The commission approved the MOU and authorized the chief to sign pending city attorney review, 5-0.
