Police chief outlines National Night Out; selectmen approve loan of side-by-side vehicle

"They are willing to loan us a Kawasaki mule side by side," he said, noting the department would cover fuel and routine maintenance while the dealer would reclaim the vehicle after the season and could lend it again next year.
Council members asked about lights, decals and trailer transport; the chief said the dealer would add lights and decals, and the department would arrange transport. The board voted unanimously to accept the loan.
The chief said the mule would help officers access trails and state-forest areas for patrols and emergency responses and might be useful at town events.
