Public hearing on Oak’s Park House highlights Green Acres constraints and planned pavilion features
Summary
At a public hearing the council described the Oak’s Park House Green Acres project as largely preserving the existing footprint with a front porch, ADA restrooms and a small recreation office; Green Acres restrictions mean park uses must remain recreational and open to borough residents (no rental fee, security deposit required).

The mayor and council opened a public hearing on the Oak’s Park House, a Green Acres-funded project proposed for the borough park. Acting Council President described the design as largely remaining on the current footprint with a new front porch, accessible restrooms and a small office for recreation programming.
Council and staff emphasized Green Acres requirements: the site must remain for recreational use and cannot be operated as an exclusive-fee private facility. The borough clarified that borough residents may use the pavilion for family events without a fee, but an administrative security deposit (discussed as $250) is required to cover cleanup if the site is left in poor condition. A member of the public asked whether the building is prefabricated; staff responded the plan is not a prefab structure and reiterated the town is aiming for a building that fits the downtown character and provides seating and storage.
Council closed the public hearing after taking a few comments and moved to finalize required steps with Green Acres staff and the borough’s engineer prior to construction; the council indicated construction hopes target early summer.
