Jack County officials report on road maintenance, recent fatalities and potential data center interest

Commissioner Gary Oliver said speed-bump signs have been installed and that one of his bridges is being worked on. Commissioner Amy Salazar reported and said an illegal trash-dumping issue had been reported and resolved and that road blading is planned. Commissioners Henry Birdwell and Terry Ward reported operations were normal.
Chief Deputy Doug Angell told the court the Sheriff’s Office had an extremely busy week, citing a major traffic accident and several fatalities; Angell said Texas Rangers have been on scene investigating a recent arrest. County Judge Brian Keith Umphress said he is scheduled to meet with a developer about potential data centers and that the county may need a data center consultant to ensure sound business decisions. Judge Umphress also said maintenance requests should be emailed to maintenance@jackcounty.texas.gov.
The court did not take formal action on these operational reports during the meeting; a future agenda item noted consideration of payment of an invoice submitted by attorney Bob Bass.
