Bonduel board authorizes fines, citations after non-resident dumping at recycling center

The Bonduel Village Board on July 9 authorized stepped-up enforcement at the village recycling center after municipal staff reported repeated illegal dumping by non-residents.
Jesse Rankin, the Village’s Director of Municipal Operations, told the board the brush and grass disposal area is open 24 hours and under camera surveillance but has experienced non-resident dumping that has required more frequent grinding and increased costs. Rankin asked the board for direction on addressing the expense and the violations.
Trustees agreed that responsible residents should not shoulder the cost for others’ violations. The board approved continued monitoring of the site; identified violators will be required to remove their waste and will be issued citations by Police Chief Fischer. The motion was made by Trustee Kay Zuleger and seconded by Trustee Andrew Court and carried unanimously.
The board did not set a new schedule of hours at the meeting; enforcement will rely on camera identification and follow-up by the Police Department. Staff and the police department will pursue removal of improperly deposited brush and seek citations for responsible parties.
