Town board adopts workplace violence program, hires custodian and updates safety policy at workshop

The Irondequoit town board approved three workshop resolutions on personnel and safety policies.
The board adopted resolution 7WS2026-1 to approve a workplace violence program required by New York State. Comptroller Diana (speaker 6) said the program is attached to the resolution. Deputy Supervisor Malone (speaker 5) moved the measure and Supervisor Perdicone (speaker 2) seconded; the board voted by voice and the motion carried.
The board also adopted resolution 7WS2026-2 to authorize the appointment of a full-time custodian in Building Maintenance to fill a recent vacancy. A motion to approve the appointment passed on voice vote after discussion that background checks and onboarding steps were complete.
Finally, the board approved resolution 7WS2026-3, a revision to the town safety policy (an updated policy of roughly 240 pages). Board members thanked staff involved in drafting the update and noted a specific adjustment on page 69 related to laundry operations. The motion carried on voice vote.
Each resolution passed by voice vote at the workshop; the board confirmed its next regular meeting is July 21 and the next workshop is Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.
