The Garfield Heights City Schools Board unanimously approved Resolution 2026-45, an appropriation amendment for fiscal year 2026, at its special meeting on June 22, 2026.
Board leadership introduced the measure and Miss Cox moved to approve the resolution; Miss Morrison seconded. A staff member told the board that the amendment "will cover some encumbrances into fiscal year '27" and includes a final payroll processed after the previous meeting. "The county will get the final certificate for us for fiscal year 26," the staff member said.
The chair called for a roll call vote. Votes recorded in the meeting: Miss Cox — yes; Miss Morrison — yes; Mister Dudley — yes; Missus Irvin Dozier — yes; Miss Thomas Jefferson — yes. With five affirmative votes, the motion carried and the resolution was adopted.
Board members did not request additional discussion before the vote. The staff explanation indicated the amendment adjusts appropriations so the district can reconcile final expenditures and encumbrances for FY2026 and properly carry encumbrances into FY2027; no dollar amounts were specified in the discussion.
The board then moved on to procedural items and an executive session. The district will file the final certificate with the county as part of closing out FY2026.
