Paul and Janet Dickson of 121 East Cecil Avenue told the board they are concerned about speeding on East Cecil Avenue in front of North East Middle School and Tot's Landing Child Care Center and asked for assistance to improve safety for children.
Mayor Kelly Benson thanked the Dicksons for bringing the concern forward. Town Administrator Melissa Cook-MacKenzie said she and Police Chief Stephen Yates will contact the Maryland Department of State Highway about the speed and safety concerns and will provide a follow-up to the residents.
Separately, Jennifer Goldbach, committee member for 2nd Friday, thanked the town and Director of Planning Betsy Vennell for continued support and said recent cancellations had led the committee to choose alternative dates for upcoming events.
The meeting minutes record the town's commitment to contact state highway officials about traffic control; no specific mitigation measures or schedule were included in the minutes.
