North East tables $216,955 roof requisition, approves environmental assessment and actuator replacement

The Town of North East on Aug. 14 heard three requisitions and moved two to approval while the third was set aside for further consideration.
Mayor Kelly Benson asked that Requisition R4-02422 to Garland/DBS, Inc. for $216,955 (Town Hall roof, ARPA funds) be tabled until the next town board meeting. The record shows the town did not finalize action on that request during the session.
Commissioner Kimberly Davis moved and Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore seconded approval of Requisition R4-02713 to Landmark Science & Engineering for North East environmental assessments in the amount of $27,639.71, funded by the 2024 State of Maryland Bond Initiative; the motion passed unanimously. The board recorded the requisition as approved by all present.
Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore moved and Commissioner Kimberly Davis seconded approval of Requisition R4-000161 to Allied Control Services for replacement of an Auma SQ12 electric actuator at the Leslie Water Treatment Plant, funded by ARPA. The motion passed with unanimous approval. The meeting text lists the approved amount in the motion as $33,720.
Funding annotations in the meeting indicate the environmental assessment requisition is bond-funded and the actuator replacement is supported by ARPA. Mayor Benson closed the appropriations discussion by thanking staff for their work on capital and grant projects.
The board did not take a recorded vote to table the Town Hall roof beyond the mayor's request; the item was left for the next meeting.
