Local nonprofit Operation Patriot's FOB presents programs to Port Royal council, seeks support

Operation Patriot's Forward Operating Base (OPFOB), a veteran- and first-responder-run nonprofit, presented to the Port Royal Town Council on Feb. 12 to describe services and requests for municipal support.
Mayor (S1) introduced Jimmy Bann (S5) as executive director. Bann said OPFOB focuses on preventing veteran and first-responder suicides through outdoor recreation, peer engagement and practical assistance. He told the council OPFOB has "over 3,000 members in our database" and that "we've had over 29,000 people come through our gates," adding that the group offers hunting, fishing, shooting, golf, fellowship/study, weekly AA and plans to award its first Home for Heroes home in March in partnership with Lennar Homes.
Bann asked for financial assistance, partnerships, volunteers and promotional help from the town; he provided sign-up information (opfob.org and info@opfob.org) and offered Saturday morning "coffee and camaraderie" tours at 9 a.m. The council and staff praised OPFOB's hands-on approach and committed to help spread information through town channels and event volunteer coordination.
The presentation concluded with council members suggesting recurring mentions of OPFOB's Saturday meetings in the town's events calendar and encouraging outreach to first responders and veterans across Beaufort County.
