Mrs. Dawn Rodenbaugh, program administrator for the Cecil County Neighborhood Youth Panel, appeared before the North East Town Board to request continued support for Fiscal Year 2025. She described the panel as a juvenile diversion program that gives first-time juvenile misdemeanor offenders an option to appear before a panel of community volunteers instead of entering the juvenile court system, and said the panel involves residents in sanctioning, monitoring and mentoring youth.
Mayor Kelly Benson and the board expressed the importance of the program and its continued success in the community. The minutes record no formal vote tied to the request; board members acknowledged the program and support verbally during the meeting.
Separately, the board reappointed Mark T. Dobbins of 151 North East Isles Drive to a five-year term on the Planning Commission, expiring July 19, 2029. Commissioner Catherine Bernard-Dutton made the motion to reappoint; Commissioner Hilary Crothers-Moore seconded and the motion was approved by all.
The meeting record does not list specific funding actions tied to the Youth Panel request; any financial support would require a subsequent budget or requisition action to appear on a future agenda.
