The Village of North Chevy Chase Council reviewed a draft FY27 budget and confirmed the proposed tax rates that will appear on the May 5 ballot.
Village Manager Dana Peterson and Treasurer Geetika Sripathi told the Council the draft budget, shared with residents since April 7, proposes a continued tax rate of $0.045 per $100 of assessed value for real property and $0.13 per $100 for personal property — the rates have not changed since fiscal year 2018. The draft budget was updated after March discussions to include funds for a Village‑wide survey, replacement street signs and a lower tree removal/maintenance line item based on recent task orders. Peterson noted planned sidewalk shaving/grinding likely will be covered in FY26 if work is completed before June 30, 2026.
Ilona Prucha, chair of the Nominating Committee, and Peterson confirmed administration details for the May 5 election: in‑person voting will be 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the NCC Christian Church community room and no absentee ballot requests had been received as of the meeting. Peterson said staff will send reminders to residents about the two ballot items (candidate selection and the FY27 tax rate) and make the voter registration list available for cross‑referencing with any absentee ballot requests.
