Recreation officials updated the Finance Committee on enterprise and revolving fund operations and on a consultant-led financial sustainability review intended to align fees and reserves with long‑term capital needs.
Lee Jackson (recreation director) said the town hired BerryDunn via RFP to develop a financial sustainability model covering the recreation revolving fund and the BD Center enterprise fund; the six‑month engagement is nearing completion with findings expected by the end of August and fee adjustments likely to follow.
BD Center general manager Jenny Sicardo reported incremental revenue and cost‑savings: recurring memberships rose about 5.3% this year, day‑pass revenue increased from $109,000 to $133,000, and a $70,000 grant will fund UV water treatment in the warm pool. Sicardo said the center is also moving ahead on a roof replacement and other capital projects and is tightening preventive maintenance to avoid repeated short‑term repairs.
Why it matters: enterprise and revolving fund sustainability affects program pricing, facility upkeep and the likelihood of future requests for general‑fund support. Committee members asked that the sustainability model be a focus of the upcoming enterprise‑fund presentations and requested details on retained earnings, capital reserves and projected fee impacts.
No formal votes were held; staff will provide the BerryDunn findings to the committee when complete.
