Loma Linda trustees approve Eastwind bridge work, reinvest CDs and authorize monthly payments

The Town of Loma Linda Board of Trustees on May 13 approved bridge work on Eastwind, moved to reinvest two certificates of deposit and authorized routine monthly payments, the minutes show. Trustee Aaron Hamilton moved to approve the bridge work; Trustee Tyler Ehrhart seconded and the board approved the motion.
Treasurer Jan Woody presented the Finance Committee’s recommendations for upcoming CD renewals. Trustee Aaron Hamilton moved to add a $100,000 CD back to savings and to reinvest the $150,000 CD plus interest for another year; Trustee Tyler Ehrhart seconded and the motion was approved.
The board authorized payment of routine monthly bills after a motion from Trustee Aaron Hamilton, seconded by Trustee Tyler Ehrhart. The minutes list payments of $18,048.37 from the General Account, $45,887.30 from the Utility Account and $25.58 from the Park Account; Trustee James Childers recorded an abstention on that vote.
Presenters Matt Barker and Jon Adams briefed the board on current road repair needs before the trustees approved the Eastwind bridge work. The minutes also record that Chairman James Childers and Trustee Aaron Hamilton will meet with the Joplin Special Road District to discuss a three-year contract renewal and potential projects.
Under old business, the minutes note the dumpster at 5533 Rosebud has been removed and that the board will send a letter to the owner of a vacant building at 2837 N. Loma Linda Drive (Haven). The Architectural/Code Committee (ACC) drafted an updated Building Code Ordinance, including IBC/IRC references; the committee will re-address recommended changes with the board.
Administrative items included notice that the annual financial audit will be presented to the Board and Finance Committee in mid-June and that the worker’s compensation audit will be submitted by the May 30, 2025 deadline. Town Clerk RaChelle Garman will be out of the office May 27–29 and Summer Kilpatrick will fill in as clerk during that period. Chairman James Childers encouraged recruitment for board and committee openings and Trustee Aaron Hamilton suggested a community event to introduce residents to board and committee members.
The board approved the April 2025 financial report and then adjourned at 7:45 p.m., following a motion by Trustee Aaron Hamilton and second by Trustee Tyler Ehrhart.
