County official outlines bids for evidence building, millage rollback and new drone purchase

On county finances, the official stated the county has collected "more than $1,600,000 ahead of schedule of what we should have collected by now" toward retiring bonds related to the jail project. The speaker also said the county "rolled back the millage for the jail ... about a third," and warned there is no opportunity to start paying off the bonds early "until 2030." The official later referenced a projected final payoff year in the record.
On equipment, the official said the sheriff's office will acquire a second drone with enhanced capabilities, including better heat sensing, and is licensing additional pilots to operate it. The official noted the current gifted drone lacks the same heat-sensing sensitivity.
