Dover updates sidewalk planning and housing study; public forums and surveys planned

Town staff told the Planning Board that the Board of Selectmen has formed a Pedestrian Sidewalk Committee to review sidewalk safety and policy; the town will launch a housing study community survey and hold a public forum this fall as officials explore potential multifamily parcels and water-supply constraints.
At the June 29 meeting, Town Planner Melissa SantucciRozzi reported that the Board of Selectmen formed a Pedestrian Sidewalk Committee chaired by Selectman Cam Hudson and including the Town Planner, Police and Fire representatives, DPW Director Kevin McCabe, Town Administrator Mike Blanchard and two abutters; the committee will evaluate pedestrian safety near schools, traffic counts and grant opportunities and will inform an update to the town’s sidewalk policy.
Planner SantucciRozzi also said a community survey for the Housing Development Study will be launched soon and a public forum is planned for the fall. Board of Selectmen Liaison Robyn Hunter said the Selectmen’s committee is identifying parcels that may be suitable for multifamily housing, including properties in the Town Center and discussion of the Junction Street property; developers have expressed interest in potential 55+ housing. Hunter added that the committee reviewed water infrastructure and capacity following Aquarion’s recent presentation and that water-supply options will continue to be evaluated as the Housing Production Plan moves forward.
Chair Lisbon noted that Barrett Consulting’s second public forum has been posted on the Town website and encouraged board members to review the Aquarion presentation and remain engaged on water-related matters that will affect future planning decisions.
