Town of North East appoints new election-board member and elects vice mayor

The Town of North East approved one new appointment and six re-appointments to local boards, and unanimously elected Commissioner Kimberly Davis as Vice Mayor during its Sept. 11 meeting.
The Town of North East on Sept. 11 approved the appointment of Michael Kline to the Board of Supervisors of Elections for a term expiring Oct. 1, 2025, and re-appointed six residents to the Board of Supervisors of Elections and the Board of Appeals.
Commissioner Kimberly Davis moved to appoint Michael Kline; Commissioner Catherine Bernard-Dutton seconded the motion, which the board approved unanimously. The board also approved re-appointments for Ulysses Grant Demond IV and Ruth Gonce to the Board of Supervisors of Elections (terms through Oct. 1, 2025) and re-appointed Martha Kline, S.J. Anderson, Russell Polo and Colleen McCandless to the Board of Appeals with staggered terms through 2025–2027.
In a separate procedural action conducted under Section 407 of the Town Charter, the board elected Commissioner Kimberly Davis as Vice Mayor. Commissioner Bernard-Dutton nominated Davis; Commissioner Crothers-Moore seconded the nomination and the vote was unanimous.
The approvals were routine and unanimous; the minutes show no public comment on these items. The full slate of appointments and term expirations will be reflected in town records and in the meeting minutes for the Sept. 25 agenda packet.
Meeting procedure: the board opened at 7:00 p.m., observed a moment of silence, and adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
