Bronson council approves park, infrastructure and service contracts; several grant resolutions adopted

Council members also approved a one‑year written extension of legal services with Lewis & Janssen PC to run through Dec. 31, 2026, at the stated rate ($2,200 per month). Staff said the annual written contract is now required for vendors that work with police departments.
The council authorized a purchase of 213 replacement street signs at a low quote of $9,782 from Door and Boss, and approved an in‑house repair plan for the wastewater treatment plant's westernmost oxidation ditch drive unit after staff presented a parts quote of $9,248.88 from PTI/PTJ Industrial. City staff said repairing the unit in‑house will greatly reduce overall project costs (Speaker 4).
The council also approved a one‑year information technology services contract with Creek Enterprises covering 20 PCs, servers, firewall and network equipment; the agreement includes a 3% annual price adjustment and an option to mutually renew for one additional year.
Two resolutions authorizing grant actions were adopted: one to execute federal community project funding for wastewater treatment plant improvements and another supporting resubmission of a Michigan Department of Transportation TAP grant for the Bronson Rail Trail. Staff said the USDA award is nearly $2,000,000 and requires the city to designate authorized representatives to sign grant documents.
The meeting concluded after council moved into closed session for personnel matters, approved a personnel action discussed in closed session (transcript indicates a 6% raise for Brandon and an associated term extension), and adjourned.
