The Tri-Center Comm School District Board of Education voted March 9 to award two facilities contracts, approving a $79,110 roof replacement and a $98,000 track resurfacing project.
Maintenance Director Brent Daringer reviewed submitted bids for a new roof and presented competing bids for resurfacing the school track. Jeremy VanArsdol moved to accept the Elevate Roofing bid for $79,110, seconded by Sara Arnold; the motion carried 4-0. Later in the meeting, VanArsdol moved to accept Midwest Tennis and Track’s bid for $98,000 to resurface the track, with Stephanie Witt seconding; that motion also carried 4-0.
Board members and staff did not record extended debate in the minutes; the meeting notes show both motions passed unanimously at the time they were made. The contracts will be administered through the district’s maintenance office; Daringer presented the bids and answered board questions during the new-business portion of the meeting.
The approvals were taken as part of the board’s March meeting after routine agenda-and-consent actions earlier in the evening. Next administrative steps recorded in the minutes include contracting procedures and contractor scheduling under the maintenance director’s oversight.
The board adjourned at 6:58 p.m.; the minutes note the district later entered an exempt session under Iowa Code section 21.9 to discuss negotiations.
