Staff member (Speaker 2) provided context on the district awards program, saying the Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District and its Board of Education solicit nominations in multiple categories, including Advocate of the Year, Family of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Community Partner of the Year and Spirit of MRH. Speaker 2 said the board extended the nomination deadline in the family category and will recognize that recipient at the board's monthly meeting in May.
Speaker 2 also introduced the 2026 Advocate of the Year item, saying the board received two nominations and reading excerpts from the nominating letters that highlighted Patrice Jackson as "an outstanding advocate, particularly for those who are the most vulnerable, most marginalized, and most underserved."
The Presenter thanked members of the selection committee and Community America Credit Union representatives by name: Rachel Ward, Emily Kressman, Lauren Weisler, Michael Detricks, Chris McGee and Jim Strobel.
