Onancock council appoints Kasey Grier to Planning Commission; SUP at 77 Kerr Street tabled

The Town of Onancock Council voted Oct. 28 to appoint Kasey Grier to the Planning Commission and took action on several land-use and event-location items.
Maphis Oswald moved to appoint Kasey Grier; Joy Marino seconded. During a roll call, Councilmember Cindy Holdren abstained, Councilmember Sarah Nock voted no, and Councilmembers Marino, Oswald and Paul Weitzel voted aye; the motion passed 3-1 with one abstention.
Council also considered a Special Use Permit (SUP) application for a duplex at 77 Kerr Street. The council did not approve the SUP at this meeting and the item was tabled for future consideration. No approval motion was recorded.
On event site planning, Councilmember Cindy Holdren moved to locate the winter farmer’s market as part of the Queen Street parking lot design. Councilmember Sarah Nock seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
Other routine business included approval of meeting minutes from Sept. 9 and Sept. 23 (each approved 5-0) and the Planning Commission adjourning after its joint public hearing. No closed session was held.
What’s next: The Planning Commission roster will be updated to reflect the appointment; the SUP applicant will remain on a future agenda for further consideration; town staff will incorporate the winter market location into Queen Street parking design work.
