Maplewood council approves multiple permits, rezoning and park planning; schedules final vote on traffic change
Summary
At its Feb. 24 meeting the council approved four conditional-use items and one rezoning (Ordinances 6102–6105), authorized design work for the Yale Open Space Park (Resolution 26-7), approved a copier lease (Resolution 26-9), and held first/second readings on a traffic ordinance (Bill 63-12) with final vote scheduled for the next meeting.
The Maplewood City Council approved a batch of land-use and administrative items at its Feb. 24 meeting.
Unfinished-business votes: Council approved Bill 63-08 (conditional use for Vintage Gold 88 at 7170 Manchester Road), which became Ordinance 6102; Bill 63-09 (All Star Tattoo at 7326 Manchester Road), which became Ordinance 6103; Bill 63-10 (Greenwell Goods at 2719 Sutton Boulevard), which became Ordinance 6104; and Bill 63-11 (rezoning 2643 Roseland Terrace at the request of Crossroads Presbyterian Church), which became Ordinance 6105. Each item was moved, seconded and approved by roll-call vote.
New-business and administrative approvals: The council approved Resolution 26-7 to authorize the city manager to contract with SWT Design for site concept planning services and community engagement for the Yale Open Space Park, with implementation to begin in the new fiscal year. The council also approved Resolution 26-9, a 60-month lease for two high-volume multifunction copiers for the police department and city administration.
Traffic ordinance readings: Council members completed the first and second readings of Bill 63-12, which would amend Chapter 50 of the Maplewood Code to add Folk Avenue to the list of streets closed to commercial vehicles; the council noted the final vote on that bill will take place at the next meeting.
Procedural and other actions: Early in the meeting the council moved to excuse Council member Faulkingham; the motion carried. At the meeting’s close, the council voted to enter a closed session under Missouri law to discuss legal matters including litigation and communications with the city attorney.
