Votes at a glance: Maplewood council approves subdivision, liquor license and flag display; rejects demolition permit

At its March 24 meeting the Maplewood City Council recorded several formal actions:

Ordinance 61-07 (Bill 63-13): Council approved a minor subdivision plat for property located at 2812 Laclede Station Road; the bill was passed and recorded as Ordinance 61-07.

Tidetable liquor license (agenda item and new business): The council approved an application for a full and Sunday liquor license for Tidetable at 7403 Manchester Road following a motion and roll call.

Resolution 26-11 (flag display): Council approved Resolution 26-11 authorizing the annual display of the transgender pride flag at City Hall on Transgender Day of Visibility; council members discussed options to adopt a single list of commemorative flags or pass flag-specific resolutions going forward.

Resolution 26-12 (removal): Council approved the removal of Planning & Zoning Commissioner Brad Jackson for attendance violations; Jackson addressed the council before the vote and raised concerns about timing.

Appeal: 3432 Commonwealth Avenue (item 11): After testimony from the Historic Preservation Commission, city staff, the owner and members of the public, the council declined to remand the appeal and then voted down a motion to grant the demolition permit; the commission's denial remains in effect.

Other readings: Bills 63-14, 63-15 and 63-16 were read (some read for both first and second readings); votes on final passage for the zoning amendment (Bill 63-14) and Bill 63-16 were deferred to a future council meeting.
