County reviews park CIP: Anchor Recreation Destination, boat launches and playgrounds on the schedule

County staff presented the Parks & Recreation portion of the capital improvement plan and highlighted near-term project funding and schedules.
Staff said the county has allocated $1,000,000 per year as a placeholder to start implementing projects from the master plan and noted several specific CIP entries: Anchor Recreation Destination (phase 2 largely complete; phase 3 with courts and parking planned for FY30), Glenbridge boat-launch design with NC Fish and Wildlife, Lake Julian boat-ramp and fishing-dock improvements, facility-wide improvements and a Big Ivy playground replacement targeted in FY30. Staff emphasized that the CIP items discussed reflect county dollars (not bond, DOT or TDA funds) and that many projects rely on matching outside funding.
Community-funded projects: staff reported Creek Community Park reached a roughly $30,000 fundraising goal for a new playground and that Cunningham Recreation will donate equipment; county staff will assist with logistics and removal of the old playground.
Budget context and delivery: staff said some projects are being paid as county PAYGO, others will use debt or grant matches. For multi-agency projects (boat launches, greenway connections), staff said coordination with NC Fish and Wildlife, MPO/Turnpike partners and other agencies is ongoing.
