Millston board approves Delmore contract, keeps Black River Falls fire coverage and orders community center roof

The Town of Millston board on Oct. 8 approved a series of routine motions including a contract with Delmore Consulting to prepare 2026 funding grant requests and a $3,300 replacement metal roof for the community center shelter.
Chairman Mike Yahn, Clerk Dawn M. Wojtyla, Supervisor 1 George Riedel and Treasurer Sue Marcou were present; Supervisor 2 Jamie Goodbear was absent. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
In early business the board approved the Sept. 10, 2025 minutes on a motion by Supervisor George Riedel, seconded by Chairman Mike Yahn. The clerk reported vouchers numbered 18459 through 18473 plus 10 electronic fund transfers totaling $54,786.09; the board accepted the clerk's report by motion. Treasurer Sue Marcou reported a Sept. 30, 2025 checking balance of $359,702.10; the treasurer's report was accepted by motion.
On grants and consulting, the board approved contracting with Delmore Consulting to complete 2026 funding grant requests; the board noted a signed contract agreement and payment will follow. The motion was made by Mike Yahn and seconded by George Riedel and carried.
The board reviewed an operator application for Angelina Stussy of Millston Kwik Stop and approved the application contingent on a background check.
On public safety and zoning matters, the board authorized ordering and erecting a fire safety sign for the residential address W6799 Coffey Road, Black River Falls, WI 54615. After reviewing quotes for possible fire service protection, the board voted to remain with Black River Falls for fire and ambulance service.
The board approved a quote from James Rhodes Home Repair to install a new metal roof on the community center shelter for $3,300.00. The board authorized issuing a check for half the amount ($1,650.00) at the November meeting.
The board received and reviewed "David's" roads report (read by Chairman Yahn). Members reviewed and signed mail and vouchers, and then moved to adjourn. The board scheduled the budget hearing and levy approval for Nov. 19, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
