Luckey council approves personnel reassignments, sets sewer project bid dates

The Village of Luckey council on June 17 approved a series of personnel actions, set dates for the sewer project bidding process and heard public comment opposing a consent order.

Council moved unanimously after an executive session to remove Randy Bielinski from the role of maintenance supervisor and reassign him as the sewer and refuse billing clerk at an annual salary of $14,400 effective July 1. Council also promoted Jacob Sandwisch to maintenance supervisor effective July 1 and approved a $2,000 annual raise for him. The votes on those personnel motions were taken by roll call and all members present voted yes.

Why it matters: the personnel changes alter the village’s maintenance supervision and billing responsibilities ahead of an upcoming sewer project bidding process. Village Administrator Randy Bielinski informed the council that the sewer project publication has been released; a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 1 at 10:00 a.m. and the bid opening will be July 15 at 2:00 p.m.

During the public-comment period, resident Steve Snyder told the council he "did not give consent to the order" and said he did not agree to the consent order; he said there is a joint pre-trial hearing and asked that related matters not be addressed until that process is complete. Marcia Meeker asked about storm-related tree damage and noted a tree that fell at the park's diamond three had affected fencing; temporary fencing will be installed.

Council also approved routine business earlier in the meeting: accepting the minutes of a May 25 special meeting and the June 3 regular meeting, approving the bills as presented, and signing the May bank reconciliation. The park-naming process received 42 submissions and council indicated it will discuss and decide the park name on July 15.
