New Auburn School Board adopts adjusted 2024–25 budget, five-year strategic plan and approves staffing changes

The New Auburn School Board voted unanimously Oct. 30 to adopt the district's adjusted 2024–25 budget and its Five Year Strategic Plan and to approve a series of personnel actions and a referendum survey contract.
Board President Louise Cody moved to adopt the Five Year Strategic Plan; Michelle Rayburn seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Cody later moved to adopt the 2024–25 Adjusted Budget, citing adjustments due to the district's third-Friday student count and finalized property values; Tim Trowbridge seconded and the budget adoption passed 5-0, making the adjusted budget the district's official spending plan for the year.
The board also approved two early graduation requests, for Kai Harder and Tyler Davis, on a motion from Cody and a second from Nick Jones; that motion passed 5-0. The board accepted resignations from Tracey Mofle (High School special education) and Brayden Lotts (custodian) after a motion by Michelle Rayburn and a second by Shannon Berg; the acceptance was unanimous.
On personnel hires, the board approved the following appointments on a motion by Shannon Berg and a second by Tim Trowbridge: Kaylee Rudnick, high school special education; Erin Plummer, part-time elementary paraprofessional; Jennifer Olson, full-time special education paraprofessional; Michael Pederson, middle school boys basketball; and Lexi Iverson/Ellison, part-time elementary receptionist. The motion carried 5-0.
The board voted 5-0 to approve a referendum survey contract with School Perceptions following a motion by Tim Trowbridge and a second by Nick Jones, authorizing the district to proceed with the contracted survey.
Procedural motions earlier in the meeting included approval of the agenda, the September regular meeting minutes and the October work session minutes, as well as approval of the record of receipts and district bills; each of those motions carried 5-0.
The board set its next regular meeting for Nov. 18, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
