New Auburn board adopts $3.06 million levy, sets mill rate at $5.97

The School District of New Auburn Board of Education on Aug. 26, 2024 approved a total tax levy of $3,062,725 for the 2024–25 fiscal year and set the mill rate at $5.97 per $1,000 of equalized value.
The levy was adopted in separate fund motions: Fund 10 for $2,965,975 (motion by Tim Trowbridge, seconded by Dan North), Fund 38 for $76,750 (motion by Shannon Berg, seconded by Jackie McCracken) and Fund 80 for $20,000 (motion by Michelle Rayburn, seconded by Tim Trowbridge). Each of those motions is recorded as carried unanimously in the minutes.
At the annual meeting the board also adopted a set of routine resolutions under Wisconsin Statute 120 authorizing district actions including selling unused school property; acquiring real estate (with an advisory committee to obtain public input before purchase); providing a food service program; furnishing textbooks; purchasing and servicing vehicles; borrowing funds if necessary; hiring attorneys and paying necessary legal fees; and authorizing independent hearing officers for student expulsions. Those statutory resolutions were approved by voice vote as recorded in the minutes.
Dan North moved and Jackie McCracken seconded the resolution adopting board member salaries as listed (President $2,100; Vice President $2,000; Clerk $2,000; Treasurer $2,000; Member $2,000). The minutes record that vote as two affirmative votes with four board members recorded as abstaining. A separate resolution to reimburse board members for actual and necessary travel expenses, with meal per diem rates of $75 for a half day and $150 for a full day, was recorded with the same vote pattern.
The board approved the district financial audit summary and the treasurer’s report during the meeting, and set the 2025 annual meeting for Aug. 25, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. The annual meeting adjourned at 5:57 P.M.
