Reif said the district finished fiscal 2023–24 with a roughly $58,000 deficit. He then presented a proposed budget for 2024–25 that projects approximately a $171,000 deficit. In the presentation Reif highlighted two factors contributing to the gap: the sunsetting of federal ESSER funds and what the presentation described as about $900,000 the district does not receive because state aid was decoupled from inflation in 2009. The board did not take action on a referendum at this meeting but discussed scenarios and the potential need to seek an operating referendum at the end of FY25 to restore structural balance.
