Trustee Rick Cermak told the Board on Aug. 19 that the main lift station is facing capacity and source‑control concerns after a high‑water alarm indicated pumps could not keep up with incoming flow.
Cermak said the pit at the Lighthouse Drive lift station receives flow from three lines — the municipal sewer line, a line from the lift station at 3737 Lighthouse Drive, and a third line from the east that he described as pumping a high volume of water that is not sewage. He said Bohm Electric will assist this fall with an application for three‑phase power and that a pump rebuild is on schedule with a target completion of mid‑September to October.
The Board noted that village ordinances prohibit intentionally routing sump pumps, runoff or groundwater into the sanitary sewer. President Mark J. Schall said he would refer the high‑flow matter to the Village attorney for review and possible enforcement, indicating the Board sought legal guidance on remedies and next steps.
