Board approves MedPark renovation change orders, detention project amendment and multiple ordinances; WL Greene property action postponed

Deputy County Manager Jonathan Boone and Finance Director Nikki Stanton presented several capital and project items to the Nash County Board of Commissioners on June 15, 2026. The board approved two change orders for the Nash County MedPark building renovations, approved a capital project ordinance amendment for the Detention Facility Renovations and Expansion (Amendment 11), and approved a set of capital and grant ordinances including a Mobile Integrated Health Grant Project budget ordinance and the Elm Street Drainage Project CDBG–Disaster Recovery project closeout.
Key approvals and appointments included: - MedPark Building Renovations Change Order 2: presented by Jonathan Boone and approved on a motion by Robbie B. Davis, seconded by Marvin C. Arrington; the board authorized the County Manager to execute the change order. - MedPark Building Renovations Change Order 3: presented by Jonathan Boone and approved on a motion by Sue Leggett, seconded by J. Wayne Outlaw; the County Manager was authorized to execute the change order. - Detention Facility Renovations and Expansion – Capital Project Ordinance Amendment 11: presented by Nikki Stanton and approved on a motion by J. Wayne Outlaw, seconded by Freddy Howell. - Mobile Integrated Health Grant Project Budget Ordinance: presented by Nikki Stanton and approved by the board. - Elm Street Drainage Project CDBG – Disaster Recovery Project Ordinance Closeout and Southern Nash Middle School capital project amendment: both presented and approved by the board. - Appointments: Chairman Marvin C. Arrington was named Nash County’s voting delegate to the National Association of Counties (NACo) business meeting (July 20, 2026); Commissioner Gwen Wilkins was appointed voting delegate for the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) 119th Annual Conference (Aug. 20–22, 2026).
The board also voted to postpone action on an offer of WL Greene property to the county for a right of first refusal until its July 13, 2026 meeting. Several routine and project-specific budget amendments were approved alongside these items.
What’s next: the County Manager is authorized to execute approved change orders and staff will proceed with grant drawdowns and closeouts where applicable. The WL Greene right-of-first-refusal will return to the July 13 agenda for further consideration.
