Glendive will not renew special city archery deer hunt after 2025–26 season

Acting chair said recent incidents involving wounded deer and hunting outside legally participating lands, together with a lack of a measurable reduction in deer numbers inside city limits, led the mayor, Fish, Wildlife and Parks and city staff to recommend not continuing the hunt right now. “Once this current season ends … the city deer hunts will not be renewed at this time,” the acting chair said.
The item was presented as an informational update to the council and was not brought forward as a formal ordinance or action tonight. The acting chair said the city could reconsider holding a hunt in future years if circumstances change.
